HOW² Te Ako Charitable Trust regularly hosts workshops and group activities focused on promoting education, health, and wellbeing, while also fostering a strong sense of community.
The community Learning Hub is series of workshops designed to help communities resettling in Aotearoa learn about the education system here. Facilitated by guests from various organisations (including the Ministry of Education), parents have an opportunity to better understand how their children learn in the New Zealand context and how they can support their young ones.
Session 9 - Introduction to Te Reo Led by wāhine Māori, Erena Thompson and Kat Paterson, this beginner-friendly series introduces the basics of te reo Māori. You will learn foundational pronunciation, greetings, and everyday vocabulary, all within a supportive setting.
Session 10 - Overview of Te Tiriti o WaitangiErena and Kat will then give an overview of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi). They will discuss its history, key points, and how it still shapes New Zealand today.
RIMA NeuroNetworks is designed specifically for neurodiverse children aged 5-10 and their families. This group provides a fun, inclusive space where kids can enhance their social skills through a blend of structured and unstructured activities. Led by volunteer parents who understand the journey, this is a great opportunity for both children and parents to connect, interact, and share ideas.
