Family Fun Day

The Family Fun Day promises to be a lively and inclusive gathering, fostering a warm and welcoming environment for refugees, local families, and the RIMA community.
Packed with activities for all ages, the event is designed to ensure everyone leaves with unforgettable memories and a sense of joy.

There will be many activities to take part in
  • Games and Competitions: Fun and engaging activities for all ages.
  • Arts and Face Painting: Creative sessions and colorful face designs for kids and adults.
  • Food and Refreshments: A variety of snacks, drinks, and light refreshments.
    Potluck Style Sharing: Families are invited to bring a dish to share, fostering a rich and diverse communal dining experience.
  • Storytelling and Cultural Exchange: Discover and celebrate unique stories and traditions.
  • Gardening Activity: Hands-on fun with planting and learning about gardening.

October 2024 School Holiday Programme

We have three fun days planned for your children these holidays! The HOW² Holiday Programme includes a Multi-Sports Day, a Creative Workshop Day, and a Swimming and Fun Day. With activities like football, volleyball, sewing, building, and swimming, there is something for everyone. It’s a great way for children to have fun, learn new things, and make new friends in a safe and friendly place.

Multi-Sports Day

Date:
Thursday, 3rd October

10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Location:
Takaro Park and Takaro Club

Hosted by Massey Sports Institute and Volleyball Manawatu, the day includes morning football and afternoon volleyball. Drop-off is at 10:00 am at Takaro Park, with pick-up at 3:00 pm. Please bring water, a packed lunch, and sports shoes!

Creative Workshop Day

The day features hands-on activities like using fabrication technology and design software, sewing simple items, and building a wooden birdhouse. Snacks will be provided. Parents should drop their children off at 9:30 am and pick them up at 12:00 pm. Please remember to bring a bottle of water!

Swimming and Fun Day

The Lido and The Esplanade

The day starts with swimming at The Lido pool. At noon, kids head to the Esplanade for either a train ride (under 8) or mini-golf (over 8). Drop-off is at 9:30 am at The Lido, and pick-up is at 1:30 pm from The Esplanade playground. Please bring a bottle of water, packed lunch, swimming togs, and a towel!
