My name is Mezhgan Aieen and I was born in Afghanistan. I live with my mother and my siblings, two brothers and two sisters. I like to study at ETC and in my spare time I like to paint. I love painting and mixing colours as I find it peaceful, and it makes me happy. Before coming to New Zealand life was very difficult for me. I came to New Zealand from Afghanistan because my home country is a war-zone place. I left Afghanistan in 2017 and lived in Indonesia for six years. On March 9th, 2023, I left Indonesia and came to New Zealand. I have been living in New Zealand for nearly two years now and think it’s beautiful. Before coming to New Zealand life was very difficult for me. In Afghanistan woman are not allowed to attend schools or university and the struggle to accomplish their goals which made it very challenging for me to pursue my dreams. Now, I am happy because I have the freedom to think about my aspirations and what I want to achieve. I’m currently studying English at ETC and love living in New Zealand the people here are very kind and respectful.
My painting isof the moon which is my sister’s choice. This was for a lounge decoration atthe time. I selected a few pictures, and my sister selected the moon with thecamels. I painted my interpretation of the picture.
